Cyber Security

Managed Cyber Security

We understand the importance of cyber security, and unauthorised intrusions are ever-evolving and escalating at lightning speed. Our approach is ‘secure by default’, but you need the tools to keep your business and employees safe and secure, protecting you from different attacks.

  • Phishing

Email scams are used by cyber criminals hoping to gain access to passwords, credit card information and other important information by tricking you.

  • Spoofing

This is a scam in the form of a disguised email designed to persuade you into giving away important data willingly, thinking you’re emailing someone else.

  • Ransomware

A more common way of cyber-attacks is in the form of Ransomware, locking you out of your systems until you pay a ransom. Even if control of your systems is gained, your data will still likely be in the hands of criminals.

  • Social Engineering

In this attack, criminals attempt to take over an entire computer system by using various techniques to accomplish this goal, including phone contact, emails, postal service and even direct contact.

  • Tailgating

Cybercriminals will monitor the day-to-day habits of an employee to find exploitable work patterns. If they do enough research, they may be able to trick an employee into revealing sensitive data.

  • CEO Fraud

Employees are targeted by cybercriminals impersonating an executive of the company to try to coerce them into revealing tax information, credit card information, or even making an unauthorized payment.

Cyber Security Introduction

What is Cyber Security?

Cyber Security measures are essential for your organisation and should be prioritised. Cyber-attacks continue to evolve and grow, and the statistics on data breaches are staggering.

Did you know that employees are the weakest link in network security? With new threats emerging every day, making company-wide changes, improving overall security, becoming Cyber Essentials Certified and training your employees should all be considered to help protect your company from most cyber-attacks.

  • Cyber Essentials Certification

Cyber Essentials is a Government-backed certification and it covers everything your business should do to protect itself from cyberattacks.

The scheme has two levels of certification, one being Cyber Essentials and the other being Cyber Essentials Plus.

Cyber Essentials is satisfactory for me small to medium sized business whilst larger business may require Cyber Essentials Plus seeking to win Government contracts or wanting reassurance that their security is thoroughly tested.

Firewalls, security configuration, user access control, malware protection and patch management are all part of the assessment whether you choose to go for Cyber Essentials or Cyber Essentials Plus.

  • Dark Web Monitoring

Thousands of email address, passwords, and other sensitive data is on the dark web, and each day more and more are added. This creates a risk for your business, and you must have a level of monitoring to know if any data associated with your business is on the dark web.

Geostream Dark Web Monitoring does precisely that. It ensures the most significant amount of protection running 24/7 monitoring your business’s credentials, domains, IP address and email addresses.

If there is a breach, and something related to your business is on the dark web markets, you are notified, giving you an advantage before criminals can act.

  • Cyber Security Awareness

In today’s world, your employees must understand what Cyber Security is, as they are exposed to sophisticated phishing and ransomware attacks. A single email can lead to a devastating breach for your business, and the employee may not even realise what has happened.

Fully automated, simulated phishing attacks should be in action to help protect your business and highlight who may be most vulnerable in an actual phishing attack – something we offer and encourage our clients to use.

Great company, great service and great staff! We have been a customer of Geostream for a number of years and outsource our entire IT function to them. They manage everything for us and I would have no hesitation in recommending them.
